About

Umm... I don't know how to write a brief summary of who I am. That's why I have an entire blog. At any rate, this blog has quite the historical tale.

I started writing it the winter after I graduated college. I had been unemployed far too long, and (as much as I love them) living with my parents was starting to get to me. As an outlet, I began to write. I took to notebooks and social networking aps.

My earlier stuff falls into two categories:
     1. Excessively Emo
     2. Comically neurotic.

I chronicled my experiences as I navigated the post-grad world. Eventually, I realized that I could make my writing visually appealing here at Blogger. That's when I packed up my most popular posts, and brought them on over.

Around that same time, I began volunteering and settling for minimum wage jobs to boost my real-world marketability. With the increase in job interviews, my blog took on a "listen to how ridiculously awkward I am" tone. It was amusing, but slightly whiny.

Finally, I wound up working in the world of traumatized and maladjusted little ones. Much to everyone's surprise, I absolutely loved it. With this realization, my blog and subsequent writings took on a self-exploration tone inspired by the amazingly insightful behavior of the youth.

In it's current incarnation, the intent (although I do occasional go off topic) is  to point out the parallels between existence at every point on the age spectrum, and highlight how we never stop growing up. I do this in a variety of methods:
I ponder my own philosophic thoughts about humanity.
I recount memories of growing up, and relate them to my present experiences.
I pen (sometimes fictional) stories about children faced with seemingly impossible challenges.
All of this is backed up with the knowledge I have gained in my own gracelessly misadventurous life. However, if that's not enough for you, I have credentials as well. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology with an emphasis on both sociology and philosophy. I have worked in child-welfare, and a variety of treatment settings with maltreated children and their healing families. I recently just finished  a masters degree in counseling psychology, and have been working as a child and family therapist at an acute psychiatric facility for children with severely disruptive behavior and mental health issues.

So, enjoy at your leisure.  Or...you know...don't.  It's really up to you.
And don't forget to "Like Me" on Facebook.
